A diagnostic test that makes use of finger pricking to detect antibodies that form during the illness. This type of test is not as definitive as antigen or PCR tests; it is usually suitable for monitoring recoveries opposed to detecting current COVID-19 infection.

Although it is also known as a diagnostic test, antigen testing differs from rapid antibody testing because this method actually detects the presence of SARS-CoV-2 in the sample acquired from the patient. It is also similar to RT-PCR as it utilizes a swabbing process via the nose or throat and it is valid for most domestic travel and hotel requirements.

A cheaper alternative to an RT-PCR test. It has a high accuracy rate, it is less invasive, and cost-effective hence it is more convenient for the Filipino public. This type of test can be used for local travel as well.

Molecular tests are the most expensive type of testing method because they diagnose active or past COVID-19 infection with slower time results but with great sensitivity. Testing does not need to be repeated as test results typically have high accuracy; the golden standard in COVID testing.
